Department of Antiquities Presents Findings from the Khirbet Ain Al-Bayda Excavations

The Department of Antiquities hosted a specialized academic lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Nabil Ali from the School of Archaeology and Tourism at the University of Jordan, during which he presented the key findings of the 2026 archaeological excavation season at the site of Khirbet Ain Al-Bayda.

The excavations, conducted by undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Archaeology under the supervision of Dr. Nabil Ali, revealed architectural remains dating to the Iron Age II, most notably a large architectural complex reflecting diverse functions and architectural techniques that contribute to the study of architecture and settlement patterns associated with the Ammonite civilization in the vicinity of Amman.

Dr. Nabil Ali emphasized the importance of this work in providing students with comprehensive field training, while also contributing new scientific data to archaeological research on patterns of human activity and urban organization.

For its part, the Department of Antiquities commended the efforts of the research team and students, reaffirming its commitment to supporting archaeological research and strengthening partnerships with national academic institutions to document and protect Jordan’s archaeological sites and promote field-based knowledge.
